From War to Peace: Our Global Responsibility by Farida Ahmadi is a thought-provoking exploration of war, migration, human suffering, gender inequality, and the universal need for peace, dignity, and belonging.
Drawing on her personal experiences as an Afghan refugee in Norway and her research in social anthropology, Ahmadi brings attention to the often-unheard voices of immigrant and minority women. Through personal stories, interviews, and social analysis, the book reveals how the consequences of war extend far beyond the battlefield, shaping people's physical health, emotional well-being, identity, and opportunities for generations.
The author examines the hidden barriers faced by minority women, including discrimination, poverty, social exclusion, cultural expectations, and unequal access to opportunities. She challenges conventional approaches to multiculturalism and argues that true inclusion requires recognizing every individual as a human being rather than defining them solely by religion, ethnicity, or cultural background.
Moving from individual suffering to questions of global justice, the book calls for greater compassion, equality, solidarity, and shared responsibility. Ahmadi invites readers to look beyond the divisions of "us" and "them" and embrace a common humanity.
More than a study of migration and inequality, this book is a call to transform a world divided by conflict into one united by understanding, recognition, and peace.
